Set-up worker: Set-up workers will be required to work on the day before the May Ball or from either 9am-2pm or 3pm-8pm (approximately) on the day
of the May Ball. They will be remunerated with either a significantly
discounted ticket or the equivalent cash payment (in the region of £40),
taking into account their preference. Their tasks will involve the
preparation of the May Ball.
Senior court supervisor: Senior court supervisors will be required to work throughout the May Ball. Their role will be significant, as they will be the two people with responsibilities for approximately half of the workers each - those in half of the courts used. They will be paid in the region of £120.
Court supervisor: Court supervisors will be responsible for one court, and will need to ensure that their designated court is running smoothly throughout the ball. They will work for the whole ball and will be paid in the region of £90.
Drinks workers:Drinks workers will work for approximately half the length of the ball.
While on duty, they will be responsible for a range of drinks-specific tasks ranging from pouring of draught beer, serving specialist drinks (for which specific skill-training will be provided prior to the Ball), stock-shifting, bar supervising and tidying. All workers will be remunerated with either a large discount or the equivalent cash payment (in the region of £60), taking into account their preference.
General worker: General workers will work for approximately half the length of the ball. While on duty, they will be responsible for a wide range of tasks that might be required, from litter-picking to stock-shifting to serving food. They will be remunerated with either a large discount or the equivalent cash payment (in the region of £60), taking into account their preference.
Clear-up worker: Clear-up workers will be required to work from 7am-12.30pm (approximately) on the morning after the ball. They must not have attended the St John's May Ball or any other ball or event the night before. They will be paid in the region of £35.
Set-up security: Set-up security will have duties prior to the ball. More details to follow, but applications are open and they will be remunerated with either a significantly discounted ticket or the equivalent cash payment (in the region of £40), taking into account their preference.
Security: Security will have duties during the ball. There will likely be varying degrees of seniority, to be confirmed at a later stage. Applications are open but details are to be confirmed at a later date. Payment structure will approximate to that of other workers at the ball.
